Driving up from the coast you can see the iconic village of Gaucin on the crest of the mountain range in the distance. Winding your way up the valley and passing the road to Casares on your right, you leave the main road and drive up through the forest to arrive at the impressive gates to the private estate for La Quinta. One of three houses hidden on the hillside, all belonging to one family, this wonderful rural retreat guarantees total privacy.
Built to the highest specifications, the owners have lavished much love and attention on sourcing original materials to recreate an 18th century style country manor. Built round a central octagonal tower, with an enclosed courtyard entrance, the house has huge charm and soul. Lime-washed walls, reclaimed Moorish tiles, old doors rescued and renovated from old estates and beautiful baked clay tiles are complimented by the pretty and delicate furnishings - contemporary but with an authentic Spanish style.
There are four bedrooms in the main house including the master bedroom which has a four-poster bed plus elegant and very spacious en suite bathroom. Two other bedrooms upstairs share a family bathroom. Downstairs is a second double bedroom with en suite bathroom ideal for guests or granny. Across the Moorish courtyard is an independent guest suite. The kitchen and dining room are traditionally Spanish in style. The comfy sitting room with satellite TV and open fire is a welcome place to seek some peace and tranquillity.
The outside terraces, garden and pool area are a complete delight. The dining and seating terrace around the house has spectacular views across the valley to the imposing mountain range on the other side and is the perfect place to watch the sunset in the cool of the evening. The pool area is hidden away down a garden path. The large, free form pool is one of the prettiest we have seen, and there is a well equipped pool house with lots of poolside furniture and shady umbrellas.
The Quinta is perfect for a family holiday or a group of friends wanting some R&R.
