This is a gracious, traditional, colonial-style house, beautifully furnished with hand-painted and decorated walls. Once the residence of the American Ambassador, it was extended by Oliver Messel, creating a very spacious reception/living area.
There are masses of comfortable seating areas and the prettiest coral stone-covered patio, cooled by overhead fans and perfect for al-fresco dining. The patio overlooks the walled garden, which is filled with an array of tropical trees and plants and has the pool as a focal point.
From the house you cross the drive to a secret gate opening directly onto one of the best beaches on the island. The clear, sheltered water is roped off for safe swimming and is ideal for all water sports. Or you can stroll along the beach and watch the sun go down from the bar terrace of the charming and luxurious Cobblers Cove Hotel.
Four of the double, air-conditioned bedrooms are situated on the first floor, each with private bathrooms. A fifth bedroom and bathroom are located on the ground floor for easy access.
The house has a wonderful team of staff including a butler and chef, and is surely one of the most elegant and refined houses on the island.
