St Tropez village is almost certainly the most famous resort in Europe. Come summer, the great, the rich and the famous-for-five-minutes all tack in by the yachtful, and things can get a little crowded. Top Spot villa solves this problem at a stroke.
Less than 15 minutes from the village itself, this noble stone villa sits facing the sea on its own rocky hillside between Cap Camarat and Cap Taillat, surrounded by three hectares of well-maintained woodland.
Steps from the garden join onto a coastal path that leads down to the sea where you can swim off the rocks in the Mediterranean without another soul in sight.
Panoramic views stretch in every direction here: from the wonderful pool terrace complete with pool house and bar; from the multitude of outdoor dining and lounge areas, some in the sun and some not; and from several of the bedrooms, including the master, which sits on the ground floor and opens onto the terrace.
Four other bedrooms, two doubles and two twins, are on the first floor. The two doubles face the sea, and one has its own St Tropez-style terrace. One of the twins looks out at the grounds, the other out across the pool.
The final two bedrooms are in self-contained buildings of their own. From the outer terrace, a wide staircase leads down to a studio apartment with magnificent views over the treetops to the sea. It has a beautiful terrace, a comfy double bedroom, a shower room, living room and small kitchen.
Last but by no means least is the small Provençal cottage or mazet by the entrance, with its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and dining room. Both of these options are ideally suited to teenagers or grandparents who want space to themselves, or even to a nanny.
Inside the main house is a large and comfy living room, a cosy TV room, a dining room and a large country kitchen – essentially everything you need for a stay in the south of France.
