Villa of the month: Sea Siren, Harbour Island 

This month, we’re introducing Sea Siren, a beautifully relaxed beach house on Harbour Island, and with it, a new chapter for SJ Villas as we begin exploring the Bahamas. Harbour Island has long been one of those quietly iconic destinations – the kind of place people return to year after year but rarely talk about too loudly.

It’s known for its extraordinary pink sand beach, its low-key charm, and a pace of life that feels worlds away from the everyday. There are no big resorts dominating the landscape, no rush – just pastel cottages, sea air, and the gentle hum of golf carts moving through the island. It’s understated, elegant, and completely addictive.

Tom is heading out this Easter to spend time here properly – not just to see houses, but to discover the island as we always do: slowly, personally, and with curiosity. Where to eat, where to swim, who to know… all the details that make a stay truly special.

Tucked behind a soft dune, the house feels entirely private, with nothing between you and the sea but a short wooden staircase leading down to that famous stretch of pink sand.

Completely redesigned in 2025, it has been thoughtfully put together with a lightness of touch. Interiors are fresh and inviting, with a mix of contemporary art, natural textures and soft, coastal colours that reflect the surroundings.

The layout works beautifully for families or groups, with bedrooms spread between the main house and a separate guest house – each one individually styled, comfortable, and quietly luxurious.

Days here are wonderfully simple.

Mornings begin slowly – breakfast prepared for you, coffee in hand, the sound of the ocean never far away. From there, the day unfolds as you wish. You might head out on a boat to explore the surrounding cays, snorkel in impossibly clear water, or simply stay put – moving between the beach, the pool, and a shaded spot on the deck.

There’s a butler and house manager to take care of everything behind the scenes, and a concierge who can arrange as much – or as little – as you like.

The house captures exactly what a Bahamian beach house should be: relaxed, elegant, and completely in tune with its surroundings. There’s no overstatement here, no unnecessary formality – just a house that works beautifully, in a place that feels genuinely special.

And perhaps most importantly, it marks the beginning of something new for us. We’ve always been careful about where we go next. The Bahamas feels like a natural step – somewhere that offers winter sun, space, and a sense of escape that’s becoming harder to find.
