The perfect destination for a ‘bush and beach’ combo.
With national parks and game reserves covering a massive 28% of the country, Tanzania has more land devoted to wildlife than anywhere else in the world. It is, quite literally, the land of the safari, which means ‘journey’ or ‘to travel’ in the local Swahili language.
Many of the country’s highlights you’ll have heard of already. The sprawling Serengeti plays host each year to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth, the arrival of millions of grazing herbivores from the neighbouring Masai Mara.
Snow-capped Kilimanjaro stands proud as the tallest peak in Africa and remains the only free-standing mountain that it’s possible to walk up.
While the Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Crater are geological wonders and wildlife sanctuaries that will simply take your breath away.
Then of course there are the islands like Zanzibar, Pemba and lesser-known Mafia, famed for their beaches and warm, translucent waters.
Taking a villa on an island – or in the case of Thanda near Mafia Island, taking a whole island for yourself – is a wonderfully relaxing way to end an active safari holiday, and something we’re very happy to help you get right.
