This delightful converted farmhouse dates from 1800 and is the private holiday home of an aristocratic Italian family who have lived here for centuries.
The nearby quiet village of Castageneto Carducci is absolutely charming. Bolgherie is only 8 kilomtres away and lovely, full of restaurants and art. This is where the super Tuscan wines were created and all the biggest names; Sassicaia, Massetto, Guado al Tasso etc..are all here, a Cabernet Sauvignon lover’s dream.
Situated in the middle of 35 acres of private land, the house is on the top of a hill with 360-degree breathtaking views over the countryside to the sea.
The interior has been elegantly decorated with a refined mixture of unique antiques and contemporary furniture. The pretty bedrooms are all individually decorated and have fine bed linen (5 rooms have AC and all rooms have a ceiling fan).
The garden was designed by the award-winning garden designer, Arabella Lennox-Boyd and features a good swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and a red clay tennis court. A shady loggia runs along the front of the house and has plenty of comfortable seating areas for the summer months when life is lived outside.
There is private access to a beach cabana (only 15 minutes drive away); as quoted by one of our guests ‘a mysterious and romatic drive down a lane, surrounded by trees, and a sandy path to a beautiful and quiet beach.. a rustic paradise’ where guests can use the private and fenced beach cabana with shower and sun beds.
This is a wonderful house with a team of staff who have looked after the family for years, and is the perfect place for those wanting to get away from it all and enjoy la dolce vita.
The Maremma rewards those who are willing to leave the herd with one of the least spoiled regions of Italy.
