Looking out to sea and with glorious views from its hilltop location, this airy, open-living house epitomises the laidback chic living of Trancoso. Only a few minutes’ drive to the Quadrado and five minutes’ walk to the famous Pousada Estrela D’Àgua and the beautiful Nativos Beach, it is very conveniently located.
The house, built in the traditional wooden style, is open and airy with large living rooms opening onto shady terraces. Spacious seating and dining areas easily accommodate a dozen guests or more.
Bedrooms hung with nets and white linen open onto wooden terraces with stunning sea views. Bathrooms are elegant and feature traditionally worked wooden basins and other locally crafted details.
The peaceful location is enhanced by the large garden, with palm-fringed lawns and a lovely pool and deck with outdoor shower. A shady, pergola-covered day-bed perched on the edge of the lawn is a lovely place to retreat to for reading and relaxing while gazing at the ocean.
For an evening out, try watching the locals performing capoeira at the Quadrado in town, or walk down to the beach for a delicious barbecue dinner at one of the feet-in-the-sand restaurants.

While it may now be popular with A-listers and home to the hippest of boutique hotels, Trancoso remains undeniably low-key and wonderfully bohemian.
